![[info]](http://www.insanejournal.com/img/community.gif) cityofheroes is a game set 100 years in the future, where super powers and super heroes have been common place for years. The game take place in a fictional city called "Haven", where anyone with a super power is being "urged" (read: more or less forced) to relocate to. We're focused on character interaction and development through focusing on scenes and threading, with a minimal focus on journals and other forms of communication. We plan to offer prompts for character reactions as well as a place with no cliques and no OOC drama. This game is about writing and having fun! Don't let all the information below scare you off. It's all just to help you if need anything to add to your characters' bios or for you to get ideas from.

Challenges are accepted on both abilities and played-bys; we're not first come/first serve. Banned PBs include originals, Myspacers, internet celebrities, train wrecks, and our band members/scene kids/models cap is currently at 01/10.

Currently, we are only allowing for two (2) characters to possess any one ability. If there's an ability you would like your character to have that isn't on the list, comment to the drop box with a link to the ability from an outside source and we'll add it to our list. Once the majority of the abilities on the list have at least one character representing them, we'll expand the number of characters able to possess any one ability.
When entering Haven, all metas are subject to a series of tests in order to gauge their ability. At the end of these tests, each meta is given a classification to indicate how powerful they are. Some abilities (like clairsentience or enhanced memory, for instance) are always given lower-level classifications, while other abilities (like power mimicry or deoxygentation) are always given higher-level classifications. Metas are classified based on the nature of their ability as well as how well they can control it. The classifications are listed below:
A/Alpha: Nearly Harmless
B/Beta: Mildly Harmful
G/Gamma: Danger
D/Delta: Proceed with Caution
O/Omega: Noxious

→ IC/OOC. There's a line. Don't cross it and you'll be fine. Keep the drama llama at home, kids, and perhaps even save it for your mama (unless it happens to be IC).
→ Don't godmod and don't powerplay. Your character is yours and other people's characters are their's. While we're at it, don't twink your character either. This isn't a win/lose, pass/fail kind of game. And, of course, no mary sues or gary stus.
→ The update limit it 4 weeks. By that time, you have to post at least one AIM log or a thread in the main community. Just like the points in "Whose Line", the journal entries don't matter here. Neither does the random community or how many chats you have with your character on AIM. All I ask for activity is that you either do a thread or post a scene you've done on AIM. (That being said, don't get all elitist and whiny about letting other people see how you write. This is a community, not a PSL.)
→ The maximum number of characters you have can is 4. No more, and not all four can be girls. And if you cannot stay active with the ones you have, you'll be denied picking up another character.
→ Slash and femme is welcome here, but in moderation. Also; not everyone and their brother is bisexual.
→ Serious SLs do not have to be run by the moderator first. However, you should do your research. Abortion and/or miscarriage is not a form of birth control, and the majority of women will have their babies at 9 months. The only thing forbidden here is suicide/cutting plots (and, you know, killing each other's characters). Just be mature.
→ Be as realistic as possible. Yeah, we know the premise isn't exactly real life and it best belong in the annals of sci-fi-dom, but just make sense.

character's name: first, middle, last
age/dob: Include the year they were born in their d.o.b., please.
human or meta? Does your character have super powers or not?
ability: If your character is a meta, what can they do. Make sure you list their classification level (A, B, G, D, or O).
code name: Can be something descriptive (ex. Storm, Pyro, Elastigirl) or something generic (ex. Mr. Incredible, Mr. Fantastic, Superman).
former affiliation: If your character was involved in any sort of Meta group before they were disbanded, list it here.
occupation: optional
sexual preference: for statistics' sake
biography: Either four solid paragraphs or 20 detailed facts (in sentence form). Include how they ended up coming into Haven. The more in-depth you are, the better your chances are of getting accepted. We want detailed characters.
